Scott Van Pelt Shooting The Shit With Patrick Beverley Was Pretty Cool To See
Scott Van Pelt is so incredible at this stuff man. One of the best to ever do it and this interview with Patrick Beverley is a great example of why he’s the GOAT. The way he connects with these players and gets them to be themselves and honest is pretty amazing. That whole video felt like it was just SVP and Beverley chillin and shooting the shit like two longtime pals. It’s why SVP is pretty much the only thing other than PTI that’s worth watching on that damn network. This isn’t the first time Beverley has been on, and every time it does not disappoint.
When news broke that Beverley was signing that $40M deal, everyone pretty much had the same reaction. This dude earned it. In college he was ruled ineligble because he had someone write a paper for him, then he had to play in Greece, Russia and the Ukraine, found his way back to the league with the Rockets in 2013 where he fully embraced his role as a defensive monster. He then thrived in said role, and ultimately cashed the hell in. It’s an incredible story
You also have to love what he talked about in this interview. If the Clippers land Kawhi? It’s on. If they don’t and he goes to the Lakers or stays in Toronto? Whatever, it’s still on. You think Patrick Beverley gives a shit? This man knows only one thing and that’s to play balls to the wall no matter who he’s up against. He’ll always scratch and fight it doesn’t matter if it’s against a superteam like GS or the pathetic Suns (no offense). I am curious to know who that team was that made him a higher offer. It’s actually surprising that he didn’t just secure the biggest bag possible, but then again there’s nothing wrong with taking $40M and staying in a place you love. He’s the perfect Doc Rivers type player, that franchise has seemed to embrace him and his playing style, plus it’s in LA so why leave?
Few players give as good an interview as Patrick Beverley, so I’m going to need these two to pair up a lot more in the future because it never disappoints.
